BATA offers youth transportation

2011-2012 BATA K-12 Transportation Information

All passengers will be on a token system. Rides must be paid for with tokens, or cash. If your child does not have proper bus fare they will not be able to ride the bus! There will be no exceptions. Tokens are available in bags of 10 rides for $20, from all First Bank and Trust locations, at the BATA office or from any driver.

Transportation to and from youth activities

Please plan for youth pick up at least 30 minutes prior to your child’s activity starting, ensuring that all passengers will arrive at their destination in a timely manner.

Transportation provided to Brookings Public Schools

Buses arrive at schools at 3:30 PM and will wait 5 minutes to depart – rides required after the 5-minute wait will cost $5.

Cancellations must be called in between before 7:30 AM.

Transportation provided to Volga Schools

All rides to and from Volga Schools are $5.00 each way

No child will be transported unless the Parent Authorization form is on file at BATA

Completed forms may be emailed to bata@brookingsareatransit.com or faxed to (605) 692-5416. We will also accept completed forms by mail or they can be dropped off at the BATA office. We are located in the same complex as the County Highway Dept. across from Brooking Municipal Utilities offices on Western Ave.

General information regarding children under age 18 ridership

It is your responsibility to contact us regarding changes in your child’s schedule. For safety and security, we cannot take change information from your child or daycare! A change of schedule form must be completed if the change is a permanent change in your child's schedule. A phone call from the parent must be called into dispatch if the change is short term.

Additional information about transporting your child

When Dropping children off at home or at daycare, a wave at the door from you or your day-care provider assures drivers of child’s safety.

Negative behavior issues will be addressed and not tolerated. We want your child’s bus ride to be a positive experience. Drivers have a great responsibility and behavior issues jeopardize this.

Our rate is $2/one-way trip with one-day advance notice or $5/one-way trip with same-day notice. Parents who call in for their child’s ride the same day will be charged $5.00 fare.
